Pitti Uomo 2018: news and trends for the next autumn-winter collection

How beautiful is Florence in its narrow streets, in its historic buildings and its monuments? And how fizzy is the Florentine air in the week entirely dedicated to men’s clothing trends?

Today, in fact, the most important and most fashionable event not only for the Tuscan capital but for the entire fashion world ends: Pitti Uomo, now in its edition number 93.

It’s one of the most important exhibition in the field of fashion reserved for the male world, which transforms Florence into a true capital of style and that allows you to discover all the collections that will be on sale during the next year.

The Florentine show, which opened Tuesday, January 9th and which will end today at the Fortezza da Basso, has seen over 1200 participating protagonists, with more than 500 foreign brands, and has focused on the theme of the fashion-cinema relationship, with posters in the square, pavilions set up as projection rooms, gigantic armchairs at the entrance and the styles of the various sections exposed and reinterpreted as film genres. In fact, the intent was to recreate a sort of journey between fiction and reality, a jump between the world of films and that of male vanities.

Many exhibitions and events organized for this edition, not only in the rooms of the Fortezza, but also scattered in some of the city’s most evocative locations.

Sneakers are also a confirmation that has been repeated in this edition in the footwear world. In fact, this type of shoe maintains a privileged position in the choice of stylists and buyers and retains the dominance among those will be worn during the next winter season.

The news and the evolutionary aspect is in the rounded and enveloping shapes, in the leather -not just canvas and suede, but also in hand-patinated calfskin or in precious chamois- and in the sole, among which the predominant ones are like shark’s tooth and smooth – there are also those who decide to personalize it with designs under the sole or on the upper, for example with Flemish paintings or metropolitan graffiti-.

Waiting to find in stores what was proposed at Pitti Uomo, we will have to wait for the final Ciak and the lights of the Fortezza studios to be lowered!
